Mitchell joins PMP as technical editor

CLEVELAND—Pest Management Professional (PMP), the industry’s leading technical journal since 1933, has inked an agreement for Dr. Stuart Mitchell, BCE, to serve as its technical editor. Mitchell will continue to serve as principal technical specialist for PestWest Environmental, based in Sarasota, Fla.

“Pest management professionals are in store for more technical gems from ‘Doc,'” says Marty Whitford, publisher and editorial director of PMP. “Doc Mitchell’s expanded role strengthens PMP’s industry-leading technical team, and enables us to move ahead with several key editorial initiatives sure to benefit the industry.”

Mitchell brings three decades of experience in the professional pest management industry to PMP. He has served as a technical specialist, technical director, consultant, expert witness, columnist, author, speaker, interim technical director for the National Pest Management Association (NPMA), and as the Entomological Society of America’s Board Certified Entomologist Director.

Mitchell is Board Certified in Family Medicine, Board Certified and a Fellow of Integrative Medicine, Adjunct Professor of Medicine for Des Moines University, Diplomat of the American Board of Forensic Examiners, and a Certified Medical Investigator. Additionally, he is Board Certified in Urban, Industrial, Medical, and Veterinary Entomology.

Mitchell joins esteemed members of PMP’s technical team including, among many others, Drs. Austin Frishman, Doug Mampe and Jim Fredericks. As PMP Technical Editor, Mitchell will assist the brand by:

  • Writing two monthly columns: “Most Wanted” and “Dos & Don’ts”;
  • Writing quarterly cover stories for PMP’s print edition;
  • Serving as a columnist for Direct to You digital media, PMP’s custom/sole-sponsored technical enewsletters;
  • Assisting PMP in a series of digital media content and design upgrades involving mypmp.net, pmphalloffame.com, and The Buzz enewsletter;
  • Co-organizing and conducting PMP’s new Tech Webinars;
  • Expanding PMP Books with new reference publications and training/certification tools;
  • Assisting with reader surveys, editorial calendars, special sections, supplements and show issues.
