NEW YORK—Cryonite technology is beginning to have a “chilling” effect on the way pest management professionals (PMPs) think about their treatment strategies.

On July 30, Bug Off Pest Control Center is teaming with Silvandersson, a Knäred-based Swedish company long known for glue-based pest management solutions. They plan to illustrate why Cryonite technology, an environmentally friendly solution that freezes bed bugs and other structural pests dead in their tracks, is like a blast of cool air on a hot summer day. (Click here to download a PDF of a recent PMP article that explains this technology further, and here to download a PDF  of a recent PMP article that details Bug Off Pest Control Center’s involvement).

A Celebration of Sweden with Cryonite is an event billed as “relaxation coupled with education” by Bug Off Pest Control Center President Andy Linares. Click here to download a PDF with event details.

Linares, whose company is the exclusive U.S. distributor for Slivandersson’s Cryonite System, is inviting pest management company owners, operators, managers and supervisors to attend the second annual event. It will take place at Coogan’s Restaurant in Manhattan from 5:30 to 9 p.m. for a hands-on learning experience and evening of fun.

“The purpose of the event is to educate PMPs about how the Cryonite System works and to teach proper application techniques, while addressing some of the concerns some have about the technology,” Linares explains. “It’s for people who’ve only heard about it and are curious, as well as those who are considering incorporating it into their arsenal of tools.”

He also promises food, drink and fun — “basically the kind of offbeat event we’re known for,” Linares says.

The educational portion of the event will feature a recertification workshop presented by industry consultant Jeff McGovern, co-author of PMP’s Fact vs. Fiction column.

“Jeff has been a firm, outspoken proponent of the system. He’ll be on hand to demonstrate proper technique and help attendees understand the science behind the system,” Linares says. “Because this is a state-approved program, there’s also a great opportunity for recertification credits for those who attend.”

After the educational portion of the event, attending PMPs will have the opportunity to beat the New York City summer heat in a wintery oasis of festivities that include Swedish delicacies, cocktails, prizes and music. (Linares promises that ABBA tunes will be spun.)

The Cryonite System will also be available for purchase at the event for what Linares describes as a special “deep discount,” which adds up to more than 10 percent off the equipment’s regular price.

“More people know about and are using the Cryonite System than last year,” Linares explains. “And next year, we expect even more to be sold on it as a state-of-the-art tool until it becomes as standardized as vacuuming and steaming are now.”

For more information or to register to attend “A Celebration of Sweden with Cryonite,” visit www.bugoffpccenter.com or call 212-781-2304. Linares encourages decision-makers interested in the event to register soon online, as space is limited.
