MGKMGK recently answered the call for support against Zika and other mosquito-spread diseases. Employees from every part of the Minneapolis-based manufacturer packed and prepared 5,000 bed nets for families in Puerto Rico where, according to the latest U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) data, 1,500 locally acquired cases of Zika virus have been reported in the past year.

“Insects spread disease, and protecting against that will always be a challenge, but at MGK we are continuously working to develop innovative and effective solutions to prevent the spread of disease,” says Jennifer Williams, an entomologist in MGK’s Research & Development department. “Part of our mission is to help in any way we can. Sending insect-controlling bed nets, which are treated with permethrin, to the frontline of the current Zika outbreak helps protect vulnerable families.”
