PROKoZ, SPECKoZ Respond To Economy
20 Oct, 2009 By: Frank H. Andorka Jr. PMP Buzz Online eNewsletterRodger Younker, the new president of SPECKoZ, wants to assure pest management professionals (PMPs) that nothing will change for them after the 13-year-old purchasing group joined forces with its turf-and-ornamental (T&O) sister organization, PROKoZ.
Younker, who currently holds the president and CEO position with PROKoZ, will assume the same duties at SPECKoZ. The position was held by Doug Mills for the past 18 months.
The economic downturn influenced the decisions by the board to start the process of reorganization, Younker says.
“We have done what many businesses have done this year,” Younker said. “We looked at our teams and wanted to gain efficiencies in the way we did business.”
The boards of directors examined how the two organizations interacted with manufacturers and distributors in both their respective markets and discovered what Younker called a “duplication of efforts” among some of the positions.
The two organizations will continue to operate separate Web sites and will maintain their separate members. Younker will oversee the negotiations with manufacturers for both organizations.
“The end-users in the pest management industry will not see any change in the way their distributors do business,” Younker said. “We will continue to serve our members and their customers with the best possible people and efficiencies possible.”
