BOSTON—Terramera has done a market launch of its new biopesticides, CIRKIL CX Insecticide and Ovicide Concentrate and CIRKIL RTU Ready-to-Use Insecticide and Ovicide.

CIRKIL is the first biopesticide registered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the first pesticide that kills both live bed bugs and their eggs as a residual treatment. The market launch for CIRKIL products occurred at the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) PestWorld 2012 conference in Boston, Oct 17-21.

With the recent market launch of CIRKIL, Terramera has opened up availability of the products for distribution across the United States. Any U.S. distributor can now purchase CIRKIL from Terramera to provide their pest management professional (PMP) clients with this new, effective bed bug solution.

“We have had a tremendous level of interest in these new products. PMPs should look for CIRKIL products to be available through pest control distributors in every area of the U.S. and its territories very, very soon,” says Karn Manhas, CEO of Terramera. “We’ve had a tremendous level of international interest as well. We will be working with international distributors to bring these products to other countries through international pest control product distributors in the near future.”

Terramera soft-launched CIRKIL in California through Target Specialty Products this summer. The products have been available through Target in several western and southwestern states.

More than 200 PMPs have used the product since its introduction, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive, says Manhas.

“CIRKIL is by far the best product I have ever used to treat bed bugs. Being able to have the confidence to tell my customers that this product will solve their problems is PRICELESS,” says Mike Stock, president of Stock Exterminators in Escondido, Calif.

Jason Oneto, quality control supervisor at San Joaquin Pest Control in Visalia, Calif., agrees. “We’ve had a lot of success with CIRKIL. With other products, we keep coming back to treat many times, and that is very costly. CIRKIL has reduced our workload. It is a very cost-effective solution to bed bug management. We’ve seen a decrease in callbacks with minimal effort on our part. I ask people, would you rather have the smell or bed bugs? Because if you don’t want bed bugs, this is the product to use.”

CIRKIL works through contact, residual and vapor action. The products are currently labeled for management of spiders, bed bugs and their eggs, including pyrethroid-resistant strains. Terramera has also conduct studies that demonstrated efficacy of CIRKIL products on several dozen different pest species, including several species of cockroaches, ants, spiders, fleas, ticks and flies.

“We will be working with the EPA to formally add more species to the label over coming months,” says Manhas. “PMPs should watch for that in the form of supplemental labels.”
