Ace Exterminating honored for business ethics

Cincinnati, Ohio-based Ace Exterminating earned the Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics from the Better Business Bureau (BBB) Center for Ethics.

The Torch Award program is designed to encourage and celebrate outstandingly ethical organizational practices and is the only ethics-based awards program in the Cincinnati, Ohio, area. For 19 years, local businesses and nonprofits have demonstrated their dedication to ethics by going through a self-evaluation process and submitting to feedback from a panel of judges.

All of the finalists this year — including Ace Exterminating — earned the commendation.

“Everyone at our company is so honored and pleased to be acknowledged for our ethical standards,” says Rick Steinau, president. “It’s something we work hard at to differentiate our company from others.”

The BBB Center for Ethics is happy to congratulate Ace Exterminating on this accomplishment.

Last year, Ace Exterminating was recognized as an honoree. This year, the company took home the prize.

Steinau explains that the difference between this year and last was a careful process of learning and improvement.

“You learn about how previous winners go about running their businesses ethically, and the next time around, you hone your application using your newfound knowledge,” he says.

“The Torch award application process is arduous, requiring hours of reflection about our approach to doing business,” he continues. “It involves understanding one’s standards for the rightness and wrongness of our actions and conveying those standards to every employee of Ace Exterminating.”
