Janet Thrasher, president of Los Gatos, Calif.-based Thrasher Termite & Pest Control, has been appointed by Gov. Gavin Newsom to the Structural Pest Control Board of California.

“I am honored and proud to serve on the Structural Pest Control Board,” Thrasher said in a news release. “Pest control is essential to protecting public health, food and property. By providing clear direction and oversight to pest control operators, the Structural Pest Control Board enables the industry to conduct its vital mission while giving consumers confidence in pest control services.”

Thrasher Termite & Pest Control is accredited by QualityPro, and provides inspection and control of all structural pests, including termites, ants, bed bugs, cockroaches, mice, rats and others. The company’s 25 employees service areas in Santa Clara, San Mateo and Alameda counties.

For more than 40 years, Thrasher has been involved in the day-to-day operations of her customer service-oriented pest control business, while contributing to the industry on local, state and national levels.

For more than 10 years, Thrasher served as director, and then chairperson of the Santa Clara Valley District for Pest Control Operators of California (PCOC). She currently serves at the state level on the PCOC insurance committee. She is also founder and president of The Duff Thrasher Memorial Youth Fund, a non-profit organization, established in the memory of company co-founder, Duff Thrasher, for charitable, educational and youth sports-oriented purposes. She is a member of the National Pest Management Association (NPMA), Silicon Valley Association of Realtors, Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce, Saratoga Chamber of Commerce and Diamond Certified.

The mission of the Structural Pest Control Board is to protect the general welfare of Californians and the environment by promoting outreach, education and regulation of the structural pest management profession. The Board strives to be the national regulatory leader of pest management. It is composed of seven members of which, by law, four are public members, and three are members of the pest control industry. Each serves a four-year term. Topics that come before the board include pesticide use, regulations, licensing, enforcement and examinations for licensing.

  1. Susan Hare says:

I’ve worked for Janet Thrasher for almost 10 years and have personally witnessed her commitment to the pest control industry. She has been a tireless volunteer with our local PCOC district and with the state PCOC. In fact, Janet supports and encourages all of her team to support the industry through participation in our state and national associations (I’m currently serving as secretary of the QualityPro board of directors).
Janet is so committed to the industry that she’s hosted training not just for our staff but for the staff of other operators! She wants to lift the professionalism of all PCOs. Additionally, under her leadership we participate in research studies that will benefit the entire industry.

Every single one of my coworkers is so proud that our industrious, ethical, generous company president has been appointed to the Structural Pest Control Board of California. Congratulations to Janet Thrasher and thank you to PMP Magazine for recognizing this impressive pest control professional.
