Certus has purchased Portland, Ore.-based Pioneer Pest Management. Completed Jan. 31, this acquisition continues Certus’ expansion in the Pacific Northwest.

Certus entered the pest management industry in May 2019 with two acquisitions in Washington State: Mathis Exterminating and Eco Elite Pest Control.

Founded in 2001, Pioneer provides pest management services to the Portland, Ore. and Vancouver, Wash. markets. The company is QualityPro and GreenPro certified by the National Pest Management Association. All 38 of Pioneer’s employees will be continuing with Certus.

“Before deciding to sell my company, I researched all of the potential buyers in my market,” said Bruce Head, president and founder of Pioneer. “I found that Certus had a great reputation for keeping their promises, looking after their people, and continuing to invest in the companies that they had acquired. After meeting with Certus, I knew that my people, my customers, and my company would be in good hands.”

In the past five years, Pioneer has been one of the fastest-growing companies in its market due its focus on providing high-quality pest control services, according to a statement from Certus.

“Bruce has built a truly great company, and I am excited to welcome Pioneer to the Certus family,” said Mike Givlin, CEO and co-founder of Certus. “Pioneer has several best practices that I look forward to implementing across the entire Certus family, to help improve our operations and commitment to quality service everywhere.”

LR Tullius represented and acted as exclusive financial adviser to Pioneer Pest Management.
