Certus has purchased Cape Coral, Fla.-based Strategic Pest Control of Southwest Florida. Completed March 27, this acquisition continues Certus’ expansion throughout southwest Florida.

Founded in 2007, Strategic provides pest management services to the southwest Florida markets. The company has six employees, all of whom are staying with Certus.

“When I decided to sell my company, I wanted to find a buyer that would respect the culture I had created and would be respectful of my employees,” said Corey Deno, president and founder of Strategic.

Rand Hollon of Preferred Business Brokers represented and acted as the exclusive financial advisor to Strategic Pest Control of Southwest Florida.

“Corey and his team at Strategic not only fit with our ‘people first’ culture, but they make us stronger in southwest Florida,” said Ron Shakespeare, Certus market president, Florida. “I look forward to learning more about the team and embracing their Best Practices across Florida.”

Shakespeare was hired as president for the company’s Florida region in January.

The company entered the Florida market at the beginning of 2020 with the acquisition of Hoskins Pest Control, which provides services to Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte and Lee counties in southwest Florida.

Certus entered the pest control market in 2019 with its first two acquisitions: Mathis Exterminating in Puget Sound, Wash., and Eco Elite Pest Control in Seattle, Wash.

Certus now operates in Washington, Oregon, Florida, Idaho and Arizona. The company expects to continue to grow in its existing markets and enter new markets in 2020.
