Founded in 2007, Dominion provides pest management services to the Seattle metro area. The company has 12 employees, all of whom are staying with Certus.
Dominion is an active member of the Washington State Pest Management Association (WSPMA). Dominion President and Founder Tony Wurst is a past president of the WSPMA.
“I have enjoyed building a small business and the relationships that developed both within the industry and, more importantly, within Dominion’s team. That said, it is no secret I’ve had other career dreams and aspirations,” Wurst said.
Wurst says he met Certus Co-founder and CEO Mike Givlin in 2019. “A seed was planted that there may be a chance to set up the Dominion team for long-term success while freeing me up to pursue a career in law,” Wurst added.
Certus entered the pest control market in 2019 in the Pacific Northwest with its first two acquisitions: Mathis Exterminating in Puget Sound, Wash., and Eco Elite Pest Control in Seattle, Wash.
“As I watched Certus operate in the Seattle area and saw their People First philosophy in action, I was very impressed. Further, their support for the WSPMA was fantastic,” Wurst said.
PCO M&A Specialists (a division of PCO Bookkeepers) acted as exclusive financial advisor to Dominion Pest Control.
“Tony has built a very successful company in the Seattle area and we were very flattered that Tony chose Certus to entrust his employees with as he moves forward with fulfilling his lifelong dream of being a lawyer,” Givlin said.
Certus now operates in Washington, Oregon, Florida, Idaho and Arizona. The company expects to continue to grow in its existing markets and enter new markets in 2020.
The company entered the Florida market at the beginning of 2020 with the acquisition of Hoskins Pest Control, which provides services to Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte and Lee counties in southwest Florida. Most recently, Certus acquired Cape Coral, Fla.-based Strategic Pest Control of Southwest Florida.
