BOM board approves 2 new advisor members

On Friday, May 7, the Black Ownership Matters (BOM) executive board unanimously approved two board advisors: Genma Holmes and Dr. Zia Siddiqi.

Holmes is both the owner of Holmes Pest Control, having founded it in 1993, and the CEO of GSH Consulting, Nashville, Tenn. She is also the executive producer and host of the nationally syndicated radio show “Living Your Best Life.” Holmes has been recognized with several awards over her career for her philanthropic work, particularly with military veterans, and for her expertise in leading social media campaigns. Most recently, she raised more than $600,000 for military families through her #livingtogivenow campaign.

Dr. Siddiqi is currently a technical support specialist at RodentBloc, Atlanta, Ga., as well as a private industry consultant. He has had more than 40 years of global experience in urban and industrial management, with career highlights including serving as director of research for PCO Services in Toronto, Ontario; technical director, North America for PRISM Pest Elimination; technical advisor for the National Environmental Health Association; and director of quality systems for Orkin Pest Control. From 2017-2018, Dr. Siddiqi was the elected director of the Entomological Society of America’s certification board.

ABOUT BLACK OWNERSHIP MATTERS

Based in Sacramento, Calif., and founded in 2020, Black Ownership Matters’ stated goal is to promote Black ownership of pest control companies by providing financial guidance, business resources, employee development, mentorship and community support. Its mission is to “invest in the economic advancement of the Black community through the area of pest management.” This alliance of industry company owners, leaders, consultants and allies “aims to formulate and implement strategies and frameworks that are unique to the Black community in order to create more resilient Black-owned businesses that thrive.”
