On June 30, Aston, Pa.-based Tri-County Pest Control was acquired by Hoffman’s Exterminating Co., based in Mantua, N.J. Terms were not disclosed; The Aust Group represented Tri-County in the deal. The consulting firm, based in Vero Beach, Fla., was founded by Stuart Aust.

Serving clients throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey and Delaware, Tri-County was founded by President and CEO Jim Murphy in 1980. He has been in the pest control industry since he was 16, previously working for a local, family-owned firm. The company was recognized in 2020 as a QualityPro business through the National Pest Management Association (NPMA), and Murphy currently serves as the Eastern Region governor for the Pennsylvania Pest Management Association.

“I want to thank The Aust Group for the professional handling of the sale of my company. To say this was a stressful time would be a bit of an understatement, but the backing I received from The Aust Group and the help compiling of the numerous documents necessary for the transaction to take place was invaluable,” Murphy said in a news release.

ABOUT HOFFMAN’S EXTERMINATING

Founded in 1990 by President and CEO Bill Hoffman, who has more than 40 years of pest control industry experience, Hoffman’s Exterminating’s slogan is “Quality Service with Personalized Care.” It has been named one of South Jersey’s fastest growing privately owned companies by the Philadelphia Business Journal. Part of that growth is due to its partnership and acquisition of other pest control companies in the region, including Shur-Kill Exterminating, Term-A-Pest of New Jersey, Delsea Exterminators, Mosquito Platoon, and Total Pest Solutions. Bill Hoffman is also the current president of the New Jersey Pest Management Association.
