The total William Blair/PCO M&A Specialists Pest Index increased 14 percent year-over-year in July 2024. This marks a jump following an increase of 8 percent year-over-year in June, 10 percent growth in May and 12 percent growth in April.
“The improvement in July was broad-based across all five sub-indices,” said William Blair Equity Researcher Tim Mulrooney. “The residential pest index, in particular, showed a strong rebound in July (up 16 percent year-over-year), versus last month (up only 8 percent year-over-year). Although we are careful not to draw conclusions from one month of data, it is encouraging to see such a strong reversal in July.”
July’s results are also above the long-term average index growth rate of 10 percent.
“While the trend line this year has been volatile, it still points upward and that indicates the demand for our services are strong,” added Dan Gordon, CPA, Pest Management Professional’s financial columnist and a partner in PCO Bookkeepers & M&A Specialists.
The month’s results by segment include:
- Residential Pest Index increased 16 percent year-over-year.
- Commercial Pest Index increased 13 percent year-over-year.
- Termite Index increased 8 percent year-over year.
- Bed Bug Index increased 31 percent year-over-year.
- Mosquito Index increased 21 percent year-over-year.
