Blair and PCO M&A Specialists: June index sees YOY increase

By

August 12, 2025

The total, proprietary William Blair/PCO M&A Specialists Pest Index increased 11 percent year-over-year (YOY) in June 2025. This is above the long-term average pest index growth rate of 10 percent.

After normalizing for one more workday in June, the Pest Index increased 6 to 7 percent year-over-year. This result is below April and May Pest Index on a workday-adjusted basis.

William Blair Equity Researcher Tim Mulrooney notes that June was a more difficult month for some companies in the Pest Index vs. a national company like Rollins Inc. “This aligns with our conversations with privately held pest control companies in the United States, some of which continue to face headwinds in digital leads,” he said in a news release. “Rollins’ multibrand/multichannel approach may help explain some of this divergence in trends. However, we also believe a more sophisticated approach to digital marketing will be necessary to drive leads in the rapidly evolving landscape of generative AI, which is something that Rollins is hyper-focused on right now.”

Dan Gordon, CPA, who is a Pest Management Professional’s contributor as well as a managing member in PCO Bookkeepers & M&A Specialists, added, “This result is further evidence that pest management professionals will have to be as smart and nimble as ever when it comes to marketing and selling their services in the age of AI.”

June 2025s results by segment include:

  • The Residential Pest Index increased 15 percent YOY
  • The Commercial Pest Index increased 11 percent YOY
  • The Termite Index increased 6 percent YOY
  • The Bed Bug Index increased 1 percent YOY
  • The Mosquito Index increased 1 percent YOY
