The Maryland State Pest Control Association (MSPCA) is still taking registrations for “Building a Culture that Reaches Everyone,” the first session of its Business Building Blocks Webinar Series. The webinar is Thursday, Oct. 29, from 1 to 2 p.m. Eastern. Register online at MarylandPest.org.
Building a strong workplace culture is harder when half the team is in the field. Joleen Matthews of Butler Plus will lead the session, which is sponsored by Corteva Agriscience. Matthews will share creative, budget-friendly ways to engage office and field employees, build momentum around culture initiatives and use community outreach to bring a team together around a shared purpose. With the busy season winding down, attendees will also get ideas for recognizing employees and giving back to their communities before the end of the year.
Butler Plus, formerly Trash Butler, is a leading provider of doorstep trash, bulk & junk removal, sustainability solutions, porter services and pressure washing for multifamily properties. Matthews is the strategic assistant to the CEO, Mike Schmidt.
MSPCA’s three-part series is designed for owners, managers and other key team members of pest control companies. Each one-hour session focuses on using the fourth quarter to plan, prepare and position businesses for a stronger 2027. The webinars are free for MSPCA members and $25 for nonmembers.
The next installment of the series takes place Thursday, Nov. 19, from 1 to 2 p.m. Eastern. In “Selling Through the Slow Season,” Jeff Davis, CEO of Coalmarch, will explain how sales teams can use the quieter months to strengthen their pipeline, re-engage prospects, manage open opportunities, tighten follow-up systems, coach staff and find where deals are getting stuck. Veseris sponsors the session.
The series wraps up Thursday, Dec. 10, at 1:30 p.m. with “Plan It Now, Execute It in 2027.” Laura Corbin of Pest Control Business Coach will show attendees how to turn business data into realistic goals, clear priorities and measurable action steps. Topics include breaking goals down by department, identifying key performance indicators, building simple scorecards and planning for marketing, sales, staffing and training needs. Target Specialty Products sponsors the session.
The webinars lead into the MSPCA’s Business Building Blocks educational track at the Interstate Pest Management Conference in January, which will offer more tools and strategies for building a stronger business.
