Mega Bee Rescues & Pest Control, based in Miami, Fla., has long been known for its signature yellow-and-black bee in its branding. For the entire month of October, however, the family-owned company is committing to its new intitiative, Mega Bee Goes Pink. This includes:
- Contributing 5 percent of its pest control and bee removal services in support of the fight against breast cancer
- Technicians performing their everyday routes wearing pink uniforms, gloves and shoe covers
- Customers receiving “Your Service Went Pink Today” cards explaining how their service became part of the campaign and how they can get involved
- On Saturday, Oct. 17, members of the Mega Bee team will participate in the Susan G. Komen Miami/Ft. Lauderdale MORE THAN PINK Walk at the Miami-Dade County Fair & Expo Center.
“We asked ourselves what going pink could look like if we actually brought it into what we do every day,” Jean Navarro, CEO of Mega Bee Rescues & Pest Control, said in a news release. “We’re already going into homes, businesses and communities throughout South Florida. Instead of simply saying we support the cause, we wanted our customers to see it, our team to wear it and the work we perform throughout October to contribute to it.”
This year, breast cancer has touched the family of one of the company’s own team members, bringing a cause recognized nationally every October much closer to home.
“Behind the pink are real people and real families,” Navarro said in the news release. “For the fighters, the survivors, the families and those we’ve lost, we wanted to use our company and the work we’re already doing every day to show support in a real way.”
