Nozzle Nolen Pest Solutions and its President and CEO, Mickey Nolen, received one of this year’s Torch Awards for Ethics from the branch of the Better Business Bureau (BBB) that serves Southeast Florida and the Caribbean.

“The BBB Torch Awards for Ethics was established to further BBB’s mission of advancing marketplace trust by recognizing businesses for the commitment made to build trust with their customers through exceptional business practices that can help provide an example for other businesses to emulate,” says Rod Davis, president and CEO of the local BBB.

According to the press release, Torch Awards “recognize businesses whose leaders demonstrate a high level of personal character and ensure that the organization’s practices meet high ethical standards. These great leaders inspire excellence, building trust with their employees, customers and vendors.”

Nolen is a third-generation pest management professional (PMP), and is a grandson of PMP Hall of Famer Truly Wheatfield Nolen (Class of 2006). In a letter to the BBB, Nolen wrote: “Some people say ‘ethical business’ is an oxymoron. I disagree. Ethics is what separates the average companies from the great ones.”

Torch Awards are given annually to businesses in three size categories. Winners for 2019 are:

  • Large Business Category (50 or more employees) – Nozzle Nolen Inc., West Palm Beach, Fla.
  • Medium Business Category (10-49 employees) – Allied Property Group, Miami, Fla.
  • Small Business Category (one to nine employees) – ServiceMaster by Glenn’s, Vero Beach, Fla.
