The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says no mosquito-transmitted cases of the Zika virus were reported in the United States last year and this year, so far.
But that won’t alleviate all customers’ fears of mosquito-borne illness. After all, several different species of mosquitoes are capable of transmitting viruses and diseases.
The pest management professionals (PMPs) who contributed to our Mosquito Management Supplement say their services are in demand by customers who are aware of the public health threat mosquitoes pose.
PMPs improve their customers’ quality of life by ensuring more enjoyable outdoor experiences. Indeed, many PMPs bundle their tick and mosquito control services to help alleviate health concerns customers (and potential customers) might have.
Certainly, scare tactics are no way to sell pest management services. Instead, we should help customers understand how mosquito control and the elimination of conducive conditions can help quell their public health concerns.
