Fredericksburg, Va.-based PermaTreat Pest Control CEO Emeritus Joe Wilson was named to the inaugural “Virginia 500: 2020 Power List.” Wilson and PermaTreat were included in the list’s retail/wholesale services section.

Put together by Virginia Business, the list includes the state’s most powerful and influential corporate and community leaders. The list was chosen by reviewing an organizations’ annual revenue, newsworthiness, community involvement, diversity, number of employees and how large a presence each organization has in the commonwealth.

“It’s such an honor to be included on the 2020 Power List alongside so many incredible Virginians, many of whom inspire me on a daily basis,” Wilson said. “Our top priority at PermaTreat is taking care of our customers and our community, and I know that’s the key to our success. I’ve used those guiding principles in my life as well, always putting people and their concerns first whenever possible.”

Prior to purchasing PermaTreat in 1982, Wilson spent 17 years with Orkin Pest Control, working his way up to regional VP and responsible for the Midwest territory, overseeing 13 states. In 2014, PermaTreat was acquired by Rollins Inc. Today, PermaTreat has more than 120 employees serving more than 30,000 customers.

In addition to acting as CEO Emeritus of PermaTreat, Wilson is also board chair for the Mary Washington Hospital Foundation, and previously held the title of Fredericksburg City Councilman. Wilson also serves on the state board for GO Virginia, an initiative by Virginia’s senior business leaders to foster private-sector growth and job creation through state incentives.

In 2018, Wilson and his wife established the Joseph R. and Mary W. Wilson Endowed Urban Entomology Professorship in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, or Virginia Tech.
