Dallas, Texas-based Sureguard Termite & Pest Services recently acquired Bill Mays Pest Control of Dallas, a family-owned company serving the North Texas area.

“We are excited to be able to service the Bill Mays customers and provide them with the personalized services that they are accustomed to,” Mike Houston, president of Sureguard Termite & Pest Services, said in the news release. “We also provide additional services that were not previously available by Bill Mays. This acquisition allows us to continue to create more density in our routing, allowing us to be able to give excellent service and response time to our clients.”

Larry Mays, a second-generation pest management professional, says he was happy to find a family-owned company to transition all his customers to. His father, Bill, started in pest control in 1956, and later started Bill Mays Pest Control in 1980, working alone and then later with his sons Larry and Terry. When he started thinking about a sale, Larry was referred to Mike Houston by a common industry friend, Mike Rodgers, whose company Sureguard had acquired in 2017. When Mike and Larry spoke, both agreed it was a great fit, and the transaction closed quickly.

Sureguard Termite & Pest Services is a third-generation pest management company owned by the Houston family. The Houstons have been in the pest control industry since 1967. Bill Mays Pest Control is the 23rd acquisition by Sureguard since 2015. Sureguard is looking to acquire eight companies in 2024.
