2. A ‘BEARY SPECIAL PROJECT Operation Gratitude, an initiative that shows appreciation for active military personnel, is sponsored by FMC and PestVets. Attendees stepped up to assemble “Battalion Buddies,” stuffed bears created to help comfort the children of active service members.

3. POLITICAL HONORS U.S. Congressman Glenn “GT” Thompson (R-Pa.), left, was named Legislator of the Year. Bob Dold Jr., president of Rose Pest Solutions, Chicago, Ill., a former Congressman himself, presented him with a glass-encased scorpion.

4. LEARN FROM HISTORY Monday’s second keynote presenter, presidential historian Lindsay Chervinsky, discussed why we should care about the nation’s Founding Fathers’ view of politics today. She said they would be surprised we view the Constitution with such reverence, because “that’s not how it was intended.”

5. EMPLOYEE POLICIES At the Headquarters on the Hill luncheon, sponsored by MGK, Rep. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) discussed the importance of meeting the needs of people who want work by providing training and affordable childcare.

6. SEQUEL FACTS Author and Daily Beast senior columnist Matt Lewis shared his insights on President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump during his Tuesday morning keynote presentation, calling this year’s presidential election “a sequel that’s about as popular with most Americans as ‘Caddyshack II.’”

7. AGREEMENT ACROSS THE AISLE Monday’s first keynote presentation featured a panel discussion with, from left, Mo Elleithee, founding executive director at the Institute of Politics and Public Service, and Chris Stirewalt, political editor for NewsNation, that was moderated by the NPMA’s J.D. Darr. Although they are on opposite ends of the political spectrum, Elleithee and Stirewalt agreed the Supreme Court made the right move when it ruled states do not have the right to keep former President Donald Trump off the ballot.

8. NETWORKING HOT SPOT Legislative Day offered plenty of networking opportunities. The FMC Champions Lounge was a popular spot for attendees to meet.

9. A LIFE OF SERVICE Jeff Keller, ACE, technical services director for Burns Pest Elimination in Phoenix, Ariz., was named the 2024 David Cooksey PestVet of the Year. He began his successful pest control career after serving in the U.S. Army for 20 years.

10. SUPER INDUSTRY SUPPORTER Rentokil-Terminix Group Compliance Manager Dwight Reynolds recieved the 2024 Policy Person of the Year award, sponsored by FMC. As an advocate for the pest control industry, Reynolds is active in both the Arkansas Pest Management Association and the NPMA.
