The Global Pest Management Coalition (GPMC) is preparing to celebrate World Pest Day on June 6. Recognized as a global event since its inception in 2017, World Pest Day was created to raise awareness about the critical role of pest management in protecting public health, food safety and the environment.
This year, World Pest Day, sponsored by Orkin, will feature coordinated events and activities across the globe as pest management associations and professionals unite to commemorate this important day. Regional celebrations and educational programs will take place in countries worldwide, highlighting the vital role of pest management professionals.
Goals of World Pest Day include:
- Increase public, government and media awareness of the important role pest management organizations play in protecting public health.
- Project the professional image of the pest management industry.
- Promote the use of professional pest management in a scientific and socially responsible way.
- Call attention to the big threats caused by small pests.
The theme for World Pest Day 2025 is: “Guardians of Health: Professional Pest Management for a Safer World.” The theme emphasizes the critical role pest management professionals play as protectors of public health and safety in communities around the world.
“World Pest Day provides an essential opportunity to highlight the invaluable contribution of pest management professionals to public health and safety,” said Manuela Cordeiro, president of the Global Pest Management Coalition. “As guardians of health, pest management professionals work tirelessly to protect communities from disease vectors and ensure safer environments for all.”
