Flies are known carriers of more than 100 pathogens, threatening food safety and public health. What’s more concerning are the rising temperatures and increased rainfall that will drive fly populations higher, making effective professional control essential.
Effective fly control starts outdoors to prevent infestations from moving inside. Focus on identifying and eliminating potential breeding sites on the property. Educate customers on conditions that attract flies from off-property areas and exclusion practices. This starts with inspecting refuse areas and ensuring proper waste management to minimize attractants. Address issues such as compost heaps, dirty trash cans, animal waste and decaying vegetation. If flies are invading from off property, use disposable fly traps along the property lines to identify flight paths; concentrate efforts in border areas to intercept flies.
Also, educate customers on proactive measures to reduce attraction. Reinforce the importance of cleanliness in and around their properties while incorporating traps and residual baits in key areas. A comprehensive plan that combines sanitation, targeted inspections, trapping, baiting and proper waste management will help proactively mitigate fly risks, engage customers and reduce callbacks.
Lastly, encourage customer cooperation to eliminate breeding sites between services.
