The Illinois Pest Control Association (IPCA) welcomed more than 140 pest management professionals to its Fall Conference, held Sept. 22–23 at the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel in downtown Springfield. The event featured a two-day program of continuing education, hands-on training, and networking opportunities for industry professionals across the state.
The conference began on Monday with an Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) preparation course led by Curt Colwell, followed by on-site IDPH licensing exams administered by state representatives.

Participants attended a robust lineup of technical sessions, including:
Dr. Fred Whitford (Purdue University Pesticide Programs) – interactive truck spill simulation on pesticide safety.

Simona Principato (University of Kentucky) – latest research on bed bug management.

Ellie Sanders (National Pest Management Association, or NPMA) – managing occasional invaders.
Rich Williams (R-Pro Products) – integrated pest management (IPM) strategies for commercial kitchens.

The event featured 19 industry suppliers, with 10 tiered sponsors and 17 companies sponsoring Monday evening’s Industry Appreciation reception. Attendees enjoyed networking, prize drawings, and camaraderie during the well-attended reception.
A raffle, supported by donations from IPCA and generous exhibitors, raised nearly $700 to support IPCA programs and scholarships.
Looking Ahead
IPCA President Tim Campbell said in a release, “The energy and engagement at this year’s Springfield conference was outstanding. Our strong turnout, dynamic speakers, and industry support demonstrate the resilience and commitment of Illinois’ pest management professionals.”
The IPCA will continue to provide training opportunities and legislative representation for the Prairie State’s pest management industry, with upcoming events scheduled for the spring of 2026.
