The New York Pest Management Association (NYPMA) announced the passing of Robert L. Moloney, who served as its president from 2023 to 2025. Moloney passed away July 23, aged 52.
Moloney dedicated much of his professional life to advancing the pest management industry and supporting his fellow professionals throughout New York state. He continued to serve the NYPMA as past president, providing leadership, mentorship and commitment to the profession.
Moloney entered the pest management industry in 2002 as a pest management professional with Top Notch Pest Control in Brooklyn, N.Y. In 2005, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Tri-State Exterminators Inc. Moloney successfully grew the company until its merger with Absolute Pest Inc. in 2016, and he continued to serve clients and the industry with distinction.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Moloney served his country as a retired master sergeant in the U.S. Army, including service during Operation Desert Storm. His military service reflected the same values of integrity, leadership and dedication that defined his civilian career.
Moloney is survived by his wife, Lisa, with whom he shared more than 20 years of marriage. The NYPMA news release noted that his “warmth, generosity and commitment to helping others left a lasting impression on colleagues, friends and everyone fortunate enough to know him.”
“Rob’s leadership extended far beyond the offices he held,” said NYPMA President Michael Broder, a Pest Management Professional Editorial Advisory Board member. “He was a trusted colleague, a mentor to many, and a passionate advocate for professionalism within our industry. His contributions to NYPMA and to the pest management profession will have a lasting impact, and he will be deeply missed.”
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to America’s Wounded Warriors Foundation, a cause that reflects Moloney’s lifelong commitment to those who have served our nation.
