Chicago, Ill.-based Bird-X has named Emanuel Doolittle director of sales and business development. Doolittle has more than 16 years of experience in sales leadership, including 11 years with Orkin Commercial. In his new role, he will build industry partnerships and help pest management professionals (PMPs), installers, distributors and end users find bird control solutions.

“I joined Bird-X because I could see the company evolving into a true solutions partner for the industry,” Doolittle said in a news release. “My time with Orkin gave me a strong understanding of commercial pest control, customer needs and opportunities in the market. Having worked in pest control, I know bird control is often overlooked. I am excited to help bring more awareness to Bird-X products, introduce new solutions and work with a team that is focused on helping customers find the right approach for each job.”

In the news release, Bird-X President and CEO Jeff Spencer noted that “Emanuel saw the progress our team has made over the past five years: a broader range of solutions, stronger expertise and a deeper commitment to service and training. He wants to help us build on that progress and bring the right answer to more customers.”

Doolittle’s industry experience includes serving as Orkin Commercial’s Northeast regional sales manager. In that role, he led sales teams in multiple markets, developed new sales leaders and built relationships with commercial customers and partners. He most recently worked as a sales manager at Groundworks, where he led the transformation of a newly acquired branch that went on to earn the company’s Branch of the Year honor. He holds professional certifications in termite biology and control from Texas A&M University and in integrated pest management (IPM) from Purdue University.

“There are a lot of businesses dealing with bird-related issues that may not know what solutions are available,” Doolittle said in the release. “I see a great opportunity to strengthen partnerships with pest control companies, expand into new markets, and help customers solve problems while creating additional revenue opportunities.”

In his first year, Doolittle says he plans to focus on training, product awareness and new business opportunities: “I enjoy getting to know people, understanding their challenges, and finding ways we can help each other. Some of the best opportunities I have had came from relationships built over time. For me, it is about trust, consistency, and treating people right.”

About Bird-X

Bird-X started as a small idea in 1964, starting with a Bird Lite (today known as the Bird Strobe Light) that was being sold to deter birds from commercial areas.

In the beginning, Bird-X was a single-employee business that was entirely operated by Richard Seid. The company spent the first 28 years selling innovative bird control products via trade publications. Readers responded to the ads in these publications and Bird-X sold bird control products directly to the end user.

In 1992, Seid’s son Joe oined the family business as the company’s 10th employee and strategically expanded sales channels. This was the start of a major growth period for the company. Throughout years of a dedicated online presence, combined with a knowledgeable team of bird control sales specialists, Bird-X has become a time-tested leader in the bird control industry.

Today, its portfolio includes physical barriers, visual deterrents, repellents, sound and bioacoustic systems, laser products and electromagnetic field (EMF) technology. Through the Bird-X PCO Select program, pest management professionals get priority access to more than 50 professional-grade products, same-day shipping on qualifying orders and free consultations and customized training.
