The North Carolina Chapter of the Professional Women in Pest Management (PWIPM) presented a check for $10,355.76 to the North Carolina Pest Management Association (NCPMA) Extension Program Endowment in Honor of Mike Waldvogel.
The funds were raised through the second Melodies that Matter fundraiser, held Jan. 27 during the Pest Control Technician’s School in Durham, N.C. They were presented on June 29 during the Carolinas/Mid-Atlantic Summer Conference in Charleston, S.C.
The Melodies that Matter fundraiser brought together industry professionals for an evening of karaoke, camaraderie and giving with participants making donations for the chance to take the stage, or to avoid it altogether. It was launched at the 2025 Carolinas/Mid-Atlantic Summer Conference.
The NCPMA Extension Program Endowment supports urban entomology programs at North Carolina State University that directly serve North Carolina’s pest management industry. Since the endowment was established in 2019, more than $400,000 have been raised.
Dr. Mike Waldvogel, the former Extension Associate Professor & Extension Specialist at North Carolina State University’s Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology, was inducted into the NCPMA Hall of Fame in 2021.
