The National Pest Management Association (NPMA) has formed a partnership with ITR Economics, the oldest privately held, continuously operating economic research and consulting firm in the United States, to give its members exclusive access to economic forecasting built specifically for the pest management industry.

Through the partnership, NPMA members now receive quarterly Economic Forecast Reports that track the indicators most relevant to pest management businesses — including industry employment, average weekly wages, and the number of active establishments nationwide — alongside broader economic drivers like gross domestic product (GDP), retail sales, housing starts and household spending. Each report places the industry within ITR’s proprietary business cycle framework to help members understand not just where the economy stands today, but where it’s headed.

Members also gain access to ITR’s Alliance platform, which allows companies to upload their own sales data and compare it directly against the trends in their custom Forecast Reports. The result is a private, company-specific view of demand, risk, and opportunity — the kind of forward-looking planning tool typically reserved for large enterprises with in-house research teams. If purchased directly, this level of access would cost businesses $50,000 annually, according to the NPMA.

“Our members run their businesses on instinct and hard-won experience, but even the best instincts benefit from real data,” said NPMA CEO Dominique Stumpf, CAE. “This partnership with ITR Economics gives NPMA members a level of economic foresight that used to be out of reach for all but the largest companies in our industry. Now every member, regardless of size, can see where the industry is headed and make staffing, budgeting, and growth decisions with real confidence.”

ITR Economics has provided economic forecasting to business leaders since 1948, with a long track record of forecast accuracy across GDP, industrial production, retail sales, housing, and employment data.

Members will get a firsthand look at ITR’s forecasting approach at PestWorld 2026, which will be held Oct. 20–23 in Grapevine, Texas. ITR economist Michael Feuz will lead a two-part Thought Leader session titled “Setting Expectations for 2027 and Beyond,” on Thursday, Oct, 22. The presentation will cover the macroeconomic drivers including inflation, interest rates, labor, and geopolitical uncertainty that will shape business planning in the year ahead.

NPMA members can access their first Quarterly Economic Forecast Report and ITR’s Alliance platform now.
