Now in its seventh year, Giving Tuesday will take place tomorrow, Nov. 27. Whether it’s through your local community, your church, your school, your in-laws — it’s a day where organizations worldwide unite on social media and through grassroots efforts to promote their cause and appreciate public support.
The professional pest management industry is no different. For example, P.E.S.T. Relief International is looking for volunteers and donations for its upcoming project: Removing trees and debris and providing new bedding for the Taunton Family Children’s Home in Wewahitchka, Fla. The facilities were devastated on Oct. 10 by Hurricane Michael. Mattress Safe VP and P.E.S.T. Relief Co-Founder Andrea Hancock has put together a video with the details here.
In Fairfax, Va., the National Pest Management Association’s (NPMA’s) Pest Management Foundation is also asking pest management professionals (PMPs) to consider making a tax-deductible donation of $20.18 tomorrow to help fund structural pest control research projects at universities across the country, as well as “help encourage the next generation of urban entomologists through scholarship programs.”
These are just two of many opportunities in the industry. We have long known PMPs to be a generous bunch, even as evidenced at the recent NPMA PestWorld event, where various committees raised funds for a variety of projects and organizations.
