New Orleans to Host 3rd Annual Formosan Symposium

Symposium on Coptotermes formosanus will be held at the JW Marriott Hotel on Canal Street

 

NEW ORLEANS — The U. S. Department of Agriculture — Agricultural Research Service, Southern Regional Research Center and the Audubon Nature Institute are hosting the 3rd International Symposium on Coptotermes formosanus. The symposium will be held in New Orleans, May 15 – 18, 2011 at the JW Marriott Hotel on world famous Canal Street.

Progress has been made in termite research, control, management and education programs. The 3rd International Symposium will highlight this progress with a variety of session topics from international experts discussing:

  • Phylogeography & Distribution
  • Control/Sustainable Management Practices
  • Colony Social Organization/Breeding Structure
  • Behavior
  • Physiology/Metabolism/Development
  • Genomics

The Symposium will also include a reception at the Audubon Nature Institute’s Insectarium and a pre-symposium tour of New Orleans’ rebuilding and recovery post Hurricane Katrina.
