INDIANAPOLIS — An online, educational training program created for Always Active technology, the latest innovation to the Sentricon Termite Colony Elimination System, has been awarded a 2011 Sharkie Award for best Product Update. The honor recognizes excellence in the use of Brainshark, an online video presentation tool. Dow AgroSciences utilized Brainshark to make training convenient and effective for hundreds of companies across the United States that serve as Authorized Operators (AOs) of the Sentricon System.
“The virtual and hands-on training offered in this program has helped our customers learn more about the Sentricon System with Always Active technology by engaging them with an easy-to-use, educational tool, available all day, every day,” says Lindsay Farley, product manager for Dow AgroSciences structural pest management. “In just seven months, more than 3,400 employees were able to participate in the program.”
Farley says the Dow AgroSciences program consists of two modules. The first module discusses the features and benefits of the Sentricon System with Always Active technology — what it is, what it does and why it works. The second module talks about servicing sites and what to expect once it is installed. The program concludes with a brief quiz.
Jason Walters, a manager with Viking Pest Control in Audubon, N.J., says his company shared the training program with its technicians, sales representatives, call center employees and quality control department.
“Employee training is important, because Always Active is a new technology, and our customers will have questions,” Walters says. “The online training program provided solid product information. It was beneficial for everyone who participated.”
Awards also were presented to companies such as Franklin Templeton Investments (Brainshark of the Year), Ashland (Creative Expression) and CIGNA (Internal Training). Brainshark received more than 150 submissions for this year’s competition. Entries were evaluated based on organization, clarity, narration, aesthetics and more.
