Last July, a Philadelphia boy got more thrills than he bargained for during his return to the station at the end of his ride on Kingda Ka, a rollercoaster at Six Flags in N.J. The boy, riding in the front seat, collided with the bird just as he turned his head toward the park’s parking lot when he heard a car alarm.
According to the boy, had he not been distracted by the sound he would have been facing forward for a full bird-to-face collision. Riders report the bird seemed to explode on impact. The boy initially expected that he’d been hit by something thrown at him until he started pulling feathers out of his mouth. A glance behind him revealed a train of passengers covered in bird blood and feathers.
The boy walked away from the incident with no more than a few bruises and scratches on his neck and the side of his face.
