RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC—Environmental Science, a division of Bayer CropScience LP, announces Rick Steinau, president of Ace Exterminating in Cincinnati, as the winner of its Tales of Transformation initiative. Steinau will receive Bayer products for a community service project and an all-expenses-paid trip for four to Napa Valley. Steinau plans to use his winning Bayer products for a large number of cockroach treatments in affordable housing neighborhoods with the greatest needs.
Launched last October, Tales of Transformation called upon pest management professionals (PMPs) to share their proudest moments when using Bayer products to transform the living conditions of customers battling severe pest infestations. Stories from around the country were submitted and following an open vote online during the month of August, Steinau received the highest number of votes.
“I’m very humbled to receive this award from Bayer, and want to thank everyone, especially my peers and community members, who took the time to vote,” Steinau says. “I was proud to join the other finalists who share the same passion and commitment to helping our communities live pest-free.”
Through his story, Steinau shared a time when he and his team treated a cockroach-infested nursing home with Maxforce baits before baiting was a common treatment method in the industry. When he and his team encountered the severe infestation, which they could not control with initial treatments, they tried using baits for the first time and experienced tremendous success.
“Rick’s proud career moment is a great example of PMPs doing all they can to create a better and healthier living environment for their customers,” says Norman Barclift, marketing manager, General Insect Control for the Bayer professional pest management business. “It’s great to see his perseverance in transforming the living conditions of those battling infestations who need professional pest control.”
