SAN FRANCISCO—After 54 years at Crane Pest Control, industry statesman Harold “Hal” Stein, 83, decided it was time to retire. His wife, Vera, says she is excited to have him home to enjoy their 61 years of marriage, with more freedom to travel and enjoy life. Stein, a past president of the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) and a member of the PMP Hall of Fame (Class of 2005), is keeping busy with speaking engagements, writing articles and going on cultural outings.

“We are so happy for him, but miss him at Crane, as you can imagine,” says Senior Vice President Deborah Hoffman, his daughter.

Crane Vice President Ken Ward has been promoted to succeed Stein as region manager, leading Crane Pest Control under parent company Rollins, which acquired the firm in 2009.
