The BioCare Mosquito Trap-N-Kill (TNK) is now available in pallets of 504 units for mosquito abatement districts and professional pest management firms. TNK is an economical, effective and reusable lethal ovitrap for controlling yellow fever mosquitoes (Aedes aegypti) and Asian tiger mosquitoes (A. albobictus). It was developed by the U.S. Army to protect deployed war fighters from mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue or chikungunya. The trap consists of a cup with an overflow hole, an oviposition strip and a pesticide strip impregnated with a minuscule amount of dichlorvos (DDVP). Female mosquitoes enter the trap because it is an attractive egg-laying site. Once inside, the mosquito is exposed to the pesticide, which kills it within minutes. If she does manage to lay eggs before she dies, the offspring are killed immediately after hatching.
