The professional pest management market is on track to grow at a steady pace through 2020, reaching $10 billion in revenue for pest services, a report from Specialty Consultants shows.
“We believe this segment is poised for meaningful growth, due to expanding mosquito control services, along with increased service requests to control bed bugs, spiders, and ants,” said Specialty Consultants’ Founder and President Gary Curl.
A Strategic Analysis of the U.S. Structural Pest Control Industry reports the compound annual growth rate will be 4.7 percent over the next five years. That’s the same growth rate from 2014 to 2015, when the pest management industry went from $7.4 billion in total service revenue to $7.8 billion.
Bed bug jobs are big money makers, the report shows, as service revenue from eradicating these pests rose by more than $100 million compared with the previous year. Total revenue nationwide in 2015 was $573.2 million, according to the report.
Rodent service revenue went up about 12 percent, reaching close to $800 million, the report also reveals.
Post-construction termite service revenue increased 7.2 percent, as improved pricing meant pest management professionals (PMPs) received an average of $891.24 per treatment in 2015, an increase of 3.5 percent. Survey respondents said they performed preventive termite treatments on 30 percent of all post-construction termite jobs.
