NPMAPPWOLast week, the policy staff of the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) attended a meeting of the Partnership to Protect Workplace Opportunity (PPWO) at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. This coalition is made up of more than 80 trade associations, public and private organizations, working to oppose the proposed overtime regulation legislation.

“Rumors are circulating that the anticipated release may happen as early as next week, but more than likely will come out by end of May,” the NPMA reports in its May 10 newsletter. “Speculation is also being made that the regulation may have a slightly reduced salary threshold in the mid to upper $40,000 range, but at this time there has been no concrete numbers shared.”

The PPWO has created a video to explain the risk to small business in approving the bill: ProtectingOpportunity.org/ppwo-video-explains-dangers-dol-overtime-change.

Additionally, the coalition is pushing two other bills: S. 2707 and H.R. 4773. At press time, the NPMA says, 33 senators and 117 representatives have cosponsored the bills.
