american-flag-atop-flagpole_300The National Pest Management Association (NPMA) urges pest management professionals (PMPs) to ask their elected officials to support the Overtime Reform and Enhancement Act (H.R. 5813).

“H.R. 5813 is a reasonable approach that achieves [the U.S. Department of Labor’s, or] DOL’s intended goal of raising overtime while allowing businesses a realistic time period to comply,” the NPMA Public Policy Team said in its Sept. 16 enewsletter. “H.R. 5813 also eliminates the indexing of the threshold and requires DOL to use the rulemaking process to increase the threshold in the future.

“Last week the NPMA grassroots network sent 1,298 messages to elected officials concerning Zika. Let’s beat that number for Overtime!”

As the legislation stands right now, the NPMA says, on Dec. 1, 2016, “the minimum threshold for salaried and hourly workers eligible for overtime will raise to $47,476 annually or $913 per week, more than double the current level.”
