Wil-Kil Pest ControlToday, Veterans Day, kicks off a monthlong campaign by Sun Prairie, Wis.-based Wil-Kil Pest Control to honor the brave men and women who have fought for our country.

With locations in Menomonee Falls, Appleton and Chippewa Falls, Wil-Kil employs numerous veterans throughout the state of Wisconsin. In addition to monthlong social media coverage, the company is sponsoring the Fifth Annual Military Appreciation of the NightGreen Bay Gamblers, a Tier 1 junior ice hockey team, on Nov. 12. The event raises funds for the local chapter of Disabled American Veterans.

“The pest control industry is a service-related industry, not unlike the military,” notes Marsann McCants, Wil-Kil’s key account manager and a retired U.S. Air Force veteran. “Pest control companies serve their clients; military members serve their nation. Both groups supply a public need to others. Military veterans can adapt to a service industry more easily than the average civilian.”

Several Wil-Kil employees are also active in PestVets, a veteran’s group organized by the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) with four goals:

  1. Create veteran awareness of opportunities in the pest management Industry.
  2. Provide guidance to assist vets with transitioning.
  3. Offer educational opportunities.
  4. Develop an employment portal for returning veterans.
