This holiday season, Manhattan, Kan.-based American Pest Management Inc. (APM) asked for anonymous submissions of stories of families in need of pest control services. The plan was to select five households to receive a one-time treatment, paired with two follow-up appointments, for its “Not a Creature Was Stirring” holiday giveaway program. The plan changed in a big way after APM received 44 entries.

After reviewing the results, it was determined that 31 of the 44 entries were in APM’s service area, consisting of Manhattan, Wamego, Clay Center, Junction City, Wichita, Kansas City, and surrounding communities, and would qualify for the giveaway treatments. The stories revealed many deserving families with very unhealthy living situations caused by untreated pest situations. APM will still provide the treatments promised for the five households the team believed to be the most deserving based on the stories provided, but they are now going to give away one-time services for the other 26 entries as well. These 31 treatments are worth $13,325 at market price.

“This year, we wanted to try something a bit different by donating our pest control services to those who are living in an unhealthy, pest-infested situation, and cannot afford to have it professionally taken care of,” explains APM VP Travis Aggson. “We weren’t sure what type of response we would have to this giveaway, and were astounded by the many people who submitted deserving friends and families in need.”

Operating since 1979, APM’s affordable, guaranteed service programs are customized to fit the needs of its customers’ homes and lifestyles. Its QualityPro-certified technicians, led by Associate Certified Entomologists and Kansas State University graduates, have more than 250 years of combined experience.
