We don’t know much about Luke’s history, whether a traumatic flea incident in his puppyhood perhaps played a role in his career choice to join Flea Flicker Pest Control, Mount Holly, N.J. We’re just glad he did, and that his dad/boss sent us photos of the Very Good Boy.

Actually, Luke is Flea Flicker’s first bed bug K9. Owner Ryan Lees decided to add a bed bug-sniffing dog onto his pest control team because he wanted to provide customers with a reliable, yet friendly method of detecting the pest.

“We’re so excited to have our buddy Luke on the team,” Lees, who founded the company in 2019 after seven years in the professional pest management industry, said in a press release. “He’ll come in handy for folks who aren’t sure if they really have bed bugs or require a bed bug exterminator.”

Luke is a mixed breed of blue heeler (Australian cattle dog) and rat terrier. At 20 months old, he completed his certification for Flea Flicker Pest Control’s K9 Division at a training facilities in Ottawa, Kan. His bed bug-sniffing services are available throughout Burlington County, Camden County, and surrounding areas of New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

“Luke can find even the tiniest, slightest trace of bed bugs,” Lees reports. “It’s almost scary how accurate he is.”

Check out a video on Flea Flicker’s Facebook page that was recently posted of Luke in action.

As Lees posted in another Facebook note, “He’s a playful, loving, crazy little dude, but when it comes to working (for his toy as reimbursement), he’s no … joke!”
