Westfield, Ind.-based Insects Limited, which manufactures and distributes pheromones and trapping systems for stored product pests (SPP), recently hosted a free virtual educational series. Three episodes have aired, with more to come soon. To be added to the list for when additional episodes are available, email t.mueller@insectslimited.com.

Episode 1: Behavior and Biology of Stored Product Insects: Are you interested in the secret to the most effective way to get rid of your insect and rodent infestations? Learn their biology and how it affects their behavior. If you do that, you can then use that information against them to change their environment. These pests all have one thing in common. They all seek micro-environment pockets where they survive and thrive. If we can change or eliminate these pockets, the pests will leave, or they will die. Watch the episode here.

Episode 2: Practical Use of Pheromones: A problem cannot be solved until it is measured. With the help of a properly executed pheromone monitoring program, we can make data-driven decisions based on accurate and timely information. Proper execution includes correct selection and installation of pheromone monitoring devices, correctly interpreting the device’s catches, and adjusting your integrated pest management programs to the information your devices are providing. Watch the episode here.

Episode 3: New Technologies in Pest Monitoring: Until recently, accurate, as it pertains to pest monitoring, relied on the visual inspections of the level and experience of your technician. Timely refers to the scheduled pest control program you have contracted. With the help of Michael Zimmermann, IT Lead for the Bayer Digital Pest Management segment, this episode explores why those two elements have recently improved with the advent of remote monitoring technologies. “We all had conferences and meetings we were looking forward to before COVID-19,” VP Tom Mueller said in a press release. “We are not just a company that manufactures pheromones. Topping the list of our Core Values is education, and with our 14th Fumigants and Pheromones International Conference in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, Africa, being postponed, we felt it was important to continue educating the industry about proper ways to monitor and manage stored product insects. We look forward to continuing our virtual seminars in the future, as well as rescheduling our 14th international conference in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.”

The Fumigant and Pheromones conferences were started by Insects Limited founder David Mueller, who was inducted into the Pest Management Professional Hall of Fame in October 2019.
