North Coast Media (NCM) has promoted Heather Gooch to editor-in-chief of Pest Management Professional (PMP) magazine.
Gooch advances from her role as editor of PMP, a business-to-business media brand she has served for more than 25 years. Gooch joined PMP in 1995 as assistant editor, and has been promoted three times since. She holds a bachelor’s of science degree in journalism from Kent State University.
“When I first joined PMP in 1995, there was no way of knowing what the publication would become,” Gooch says. “Today, we’re much more than a monthly trade magazine. PMP is pest control’s leading integrated media brand, encompassing: monthly print and digital editions; a website; several e-newsletters; a blog; several social media channels; the industry’s premier recognition event with our PMP Hall of Fame; and an exclusive buyer-seller networking event with our annual PMP Growth Summit.
“What a difference 25-plus years make,” Gooch adds. “Even more has changed since 1933, when we began serving as pest control’s most-trusted resource. But, through it all, one thing has remained constant: Our love for, and commitment to, our wonderful, close-knit community of pest control professionals.”
With Gooch’s assistance, NCM in 2017 launched the PMP Growth Summit, an annual, exclusive buyer-seller networking event. Also under Gooch’s guidance, PMP the past eight years has garnered 53 Azbee Awards of Excellence, bestowed by the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE).
“Under Heather’s leadership, PMP is second-to-none in staff-written content, and has assembled an unparalleled squad of influencer columnists, including ABC’s Bobby, Dennis and Raleigh Jenkins; Rollins’ Judy Black; Terminix’s Dan Baldwin; Pest Cemetery’s Jerry Schappert; Rose Pest’s Mark Sheperdigian; Nisus Corp.’s Greg Baumann; NPMA’s Dr. Jim Fredericks; PCO Bookkeepers’ Dan Gordon; and Pete Schopen of Schopen Pest Solutions,” says Marty Whitford, PMP editorial director and publisher.
“For the past quarter century, Heather has reported on — and helped shape — the professional pest control community,” Whitford adds. “Please join us in congratulating Heather, our very deserving PMP EIC.”
