Insects Limited, based in Westfield, Ind., has planned another free educational webinar for the pest management industry.
The upcoming webinar “Role of Temperature in the Biology and Control of Stored Product Pests (SPP)” will take place on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 12 p.m. EDT. Dr. Paul Fields will be the training presenter.
Dr. Fields received his doctorate in biology from Université Laval in 1987. From 1988 until 2021, he worked as a research scientist at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada in Winnipeg on the ecophysiology of SPP. He examined how low and high temperature, natural products such as neem, pea extracts and diatomaceous earth can be used control SPP. His work on insect behavior focused on trap design and insect repellents. He evaluated the efficacy of alternatives to methyl bromide in flour mills.
He has also served on the editorial boards of Journal of Stored Product Research (since 1995), Phytoprotection (1993-2003), The Canadian Entomologist (2003-2006), and was the editor of Bulletin of the Entomological Society of Canada (2003-2006).
Dr. Fields has served as president of the Entomological Societies of Canada and Manitoba and was appointed as a fellow of the Entomological Society of Canada in 2018. He has given more than 60 invited presentations across Canada and internationally and published more than 100 papers, 13 book chapters, and has five patents. He has mentored (as principal supervisor) four doctoral and four graduate-level students as an adjunct professor at the Department of Entomology, University of Manitoba.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Insects Limited canceled its 14th annual Fumigants & Pheromones Conference for 2020. The conferences were started by Insects Limited founder David Mueller, BCE, who was inducted into the Pest Management Professional Hall of Fame in October 2019.
David founded Insects Limited in 1982 and its sister company, Fumigation Service & Supply launched the year prior in 1981.
