The next installment of FMC Professional Solutions‘ First Friday Webinar Series will take place Dec. 10 at 10:30 a.m. Eastern. Titled “Bed Bug Control – For Fun & Profit,” the free webinar features industry expert Lou Sorkin, BCE. He will examine everything about bed bugs, including control, behavior, biology, treatment methods, best practices and other aspects important to pest management professionals (PMPs).
Sorkin grew up in Westchester County, N.Y., and eastern Connecticut, where he says he always had a keen interest in animals, especially arthropods, reptiles and amphibians. Teachers invited him to bring his animals to teach the younger children’s school classes.
He graduated with a master of science degree in entomology from the University of Connecticut in 1978 and began his arachnological career in the Department of Entomology (now the Division of Invertebrate Zoology) at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.
He pursued his interests in spiders and other arachnids, especially certain parasitic species and, for the last 35 years, the common bed bug, Cimex lectularius.
In 2020, he retired from the museum after 43 years of service. Sorkin incorporated his entomology consulting business, Entsult Associates, in 2000. He is a board-certified entomologist in Urban and Industrial Entomology, specializing in forensic studies.
Attendees of the webinar are able to earn Continuing Education (CEU) credits in select states.
During the webinar, attendees will also have an opportunity for Q&A after the session.
Attendees can also take advantage of other benefits by becoming FMC True Champion enrollees.
Registration is now available for the Dec. 10 webinar.
