Orkin hosted two blood drives in Los Angeles, Calif., and Atlanta, Ga., which aligned with its annual Top 50 Mosquito Cities List.

Orkin’s Top 50 Mosquito Cities list ranks metro areas by the number of mosquito customers served from April 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022. The list includes both residential and commercial mosquito treatments.

Los Angeles landed the No. 1 spot this year with Atlanta at No. 5.

Between both blood drives, Orkin collected 59 units of blood, which will directly impact the lives of up to 177 patients as they battle cancer, receive a transfusion for a blood disorder or undergo surgery.

Overall, Orkin had 19 first-time donors to the Red Cross.

  • Los Angeles (Tuesday, June 7): 32 units donated; eight first-time donors
  • Atlanta (Wednesday, June 22): 27 units donated; 11 first-time donors

In addition to blood donation, Orkin is donating $150,000 to the Red Cross this year.

As part of the annual Mosquitoes Don’t Deserve a Drop campaign, Orkin’s SleevesUp program is also inviting the public to pledge to donate blood to the Red Cross, an initiative that Orkin employees are also prioritizing this mosquito season. This option allows the public to pledge to donate blood in your area, on your own time.

People can sign up to donate through Aug. 31, 2022.
