Pest Management Systems, Inc. (PMi) received the Outstanding Business in Philanthropy Award for the Association of Fundraising Professionals – Triad Chapter.

The company was nominated by the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Greensboro, the Greensboro Science Center and AuthoraCare Collective.

Part of the PMi team went to the awards ceremony, held on Nov. 21. Billy and Laurie Tesh received the award on behalf of PMi and were also both recipients of the Spirit of Philanthropy Award and were recognized at the event for their personal and professional contributions.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals wrote about the company: “Pest Management Systems, Inc (PMI) is a homegrown, locally owned company whose founder, Billy Tesh, believes in sharing his business success with his community. Since founding the company in 1984, Billy has immersed his family and employees in a culture of philanthropy through partnerships with various organizations. PMI employees volunteer with Habitat build sites, host food drives and coat drives, and participate in 5ks to benefit the neighborhoods where their business is located. Since 1987 when Habitat Greensboro opened, PMI has provided at no charge the termite pre-treatments for every new Habitat home, which to date is over 500 homes! Billy’s daughter Julie has taken up the mantle of philanthropic leadership. Julie Tesh has become one of the Greensboro community’s most sought-after volunteer event chairs. She just finished chairing the AuthoraCare Corks for Kids Path event while serving on Habitat’s Blueprints and Bubby fundraiser. She currently serves on Habitat’s Development Committee. Every day, Billy, Julie, and all the employees show that PMI Cares.”

Billy Tesh, president of PMi and Pest Management Professional Hall of Famer (Class of 2017), added, “To have been given this accolade for philanthropy has given us so much joy. It has been a privilege of ours to give back to such notable causes for over three decades now. Giving personally of our time through events and our sponsorships, has been so rewarding to see the lives touched and the awareness that is raised for these organizations. The work these organizations do to make a difference each day gives us more motivation to continue to give back to them and help the impact reach further. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with all the volunteers that care so much about these causes and what it does for our community. We love that these are relationships we will continue to partner with for years to come and build them up for all the good they all do for so many.”
