The stuff of nightmares
In the February 1968 issue, this (hopefully) staged photo accompanies an otherwise straightforward report about the U.S. Federal Housing Administration’s requirements for termite protection. The original caption notes that “Pest control operators are in a position to advise against the home storage of pesticides [in] food or drink containers.”

Fleet considerations
In our May 1968 issue, the legendary Bill Clark wrote an article titled “How We Selected Service Trucks.” The founder of Bill Clark Pest Control in Beaumont, Texas, described how he and his team arrived at choosing Chevrolet half-ton pickups with a standard bed, equipping them with two service boxes made of 16-gauge galvanized steel. The setup “allows easy curb access to equipment,” wrote Clark, who passed away last fall at the age of 89. The company is still serving Texas today under the leadership of longtime employee-turned-owner Josh Smith and his wife, Sarah.
