From June 6 to June 7, during National Bed Bug Awareness Week (June 4-10), the Envu Professional Pest Management team met with more than 50 pest management professionals (PMPs) from across the country for a deep dive into all things bed bugs — including Envu’s new TruDetx Bed Bug Rapid Test. The event took place at the Westin O’Hare in Rosemont, Ill., and featured roundtable discussions, expert speakers, product demonstrations and more.
Reliable detection when bed bug infestations are still at a low level is essential. That’s why Envu developed this new product. Now, PMPs have access to a science-based tool that can detect a bed bug infestation within minutes, with more than 90 percent accuracy. Visit US.envu.com/bedbugs for

RESULTS IN 5 MINUTES
The TruDetx Bed Bug Rapid Test uses a simple lateral flow strip that works like a COVID-19 self test.
TRYING IT OUT
Attendees were given TruDetx devices to learn how the swab test concept works. Envu foresees this as a helpful way for PMPs to give peace of mind to customers, especially for those who may not have an infestation but otherwise believe they do. It could also be a useful tool in multi-family, hospitality and hospital accounts.
BED BUG UPDATE SPEAKERS INCLUDED
Dr. Michael Bentley, BCE, Pest Management Professional’s “Callback Cures” columnist and director of training and education for the National Pest Management Association. He updated attendees about news from both the association and the National Institutes of Health regarding bed bug research.
FROM CONCEPT TO REALITY
Envu Senior Scientist and Product Development Manager Dr. Alex Ko was part of the TruDetx development team. He gave attendees a bit of the history and science behind its evolution, which has been in the works since 2015.
