Plunkett’s Pest Control recently acquired two companies: MASH Services of Illinois and Chess Pest Control.
MASH Services of Illinois provides full-service pest control to the greater Chicagoland area.
The Chicago, Ill.-based firm began as A-Alert Pest Control through its original owner, Jerry Leeb, in 1972. Current owner Kevin Connelly joined the team in 1990, was promoted to service manager in 1993, and officially took over operations in 2003. All MASH Services staff members have been offered positions and will be joining the Plunkett’s staff. Meanwhile, Connelly said he plans to retire, intending to contribute to Plunkett’s success in an advisory capacity for the initial months following the merger.
“I chose Plunkett’s because of their reputation in the industry,” Connelly said in a news release. “They’re a Midwestern company that has a history of being a good employer, as well as being good to their customers. I know I’m leaving my customers and my employees in good hands.”
Plunkett’s Pest Control also acquired Chess Termite & Pest Control. The Hadley, Pa.-based company serves Mercer, Venango and Crawford counties in Northwestern Pennsylvania.
Chess Termite & Pest Control was started by brothers Doug and Roger Chess in 1995. Roger Chess will be retiring, while Doug Chess will be joining the team at Plunkett’s Pest Control.
In the news release, the brothers noted that they chose Plunkett’s “because we share the philosophy that our customers come first. We’re both locally owned and operated, and we knew that Plunkett’s would do right by our customers. We are leaving them in good hands.”
